Mozilla Thunderbird 1.5.0.10 is broken

Well I just had the latest update pushed to my PC and it doesn’t work.
After uninstalling and reinstalling I now get the following error message “A previous install did not complete correctly. Finishing install.”
So I uninstall again and go to delete the “C:\Program Files\Mozilla Thunderbird” folder and find out that there is a process access it. What is it? “xpicleanup.exe” So lets kill all these off, seeing as I have 10 of the little buggers running after all my attempts.
That was successful, now time for the reinstall. This time it all goes smoothly and things are working again.
Overall it was a total time waster. Perhaps a restart of my PC would have fixed the problem, though I really shouldn’t have to do that.
