Wow, another super hero movie comes along and does amazing box office.
Was great to see that Iron Man did so well. They had some big name actors involved that I was suprised to see in this type of movie. Looks like comic book movies are now ‘mainstream’ enough for everyone to want a part in a big action blockbuster.
Overall I have to say that I liked the movie a lot, though it felt like one long intro and hopefully Iron Man 2 won’t take long to come out.
Loved the sequence they showed after the credits. Very nice.

Often heard when you see something on the internet is “Where do they find the time?“.
Well Clay Shirky has a few ideas, check out this video on his presentation:
Clay Shirky at Web 2.0 Expo SF 2008 - 16 Minutes
My Take: At the end of the day, we have all been conditioned to watch TV, imagine all the time that you spend watching TV and think about what you could be doing instead. You don’t need to give up all your TV time, just a little, then you will ‘find the time’ to do what you want.

I guess most people tie their shoelaces the old school way.
Check out Ian’s Secure Shoelace Knot for a solution that is well worth the 5 minutes it will take you to learn.
Make sure to read the tip at the bottom (in yellow) if your knot doesn’t look right.

I ran across this amazing podcast about how the brain works.
Not a boring thing, but actual interesting information that you can use to improve the way you learn and do things.
Part 1 and Part 2. Each are about 30mins long.
Might even be worthy buying the “Brain Rules” book.

So I stumbled across a Book Price comparision site in AU called Bookie.
It will compare prices on Amazon.com in the US to prices here in AU and give all the prices to you including shipping in AU dollars.
This allows you to see in a few seconds which is the cheapest option.
I would search on ISBN, as one search I did only returned the audio book.

So I had a little bookmark site that I had at a free site that I haven’t been able to bring across to this one.
They just deleted all my files for no reason on the weekend.
Make sure to do a backup of all your important data, you can buy external hard drives with 300+ gigs of space that can easily backup all your important data with just 1 click such as the Maxtor One Touch series.
If you have a friend of family member that doesn’t do backups, give them a call and push them into buying one of these things, they will thank you one day.

So I haven’t bought the book the 4-hour work week?? though it does look awesome.
Check out this 50 minute interview that highlights some really useful tips on controlling your life and stopping interuptions.
Looks to be really good for busy people, though there are a few ideas there that I am sure we can all use.
- Don’t check email first thing in the morning.
- Seperate the trivial many from the critical few. That is: 20% of your activities produce 80% of your desired outcomes.
- Ask yourself 3 times a day: Are you being productive or are you just being busy.
- What gets measured gets managed. If you can’t measure it, you don’t understand it.
Overall some very handy tips there.
