So I am learning a new web technology called Ruby on Rails.

While this technology looks promising and awesome, it is so different from what I am used to that yesterday when I started to make a new site for the first time, my head practically caved in.

Even reading a book to help get me started didn’t even come close to preparing me for the massive change in thinking.

One thing did occur to me as I was making mistake after mistake. We spend most of our days avoiding and fearing mistakes. It’s great to be doing something new where you are intentionally making a mistake just to get some feedback on what you should be doing.

Learning like this must be one of the things that makes being a kid so great.
