Linux Kernel Development

Interesting article over at apcmag on Why I quit Kernel development by Con Kolivas.
As with everything in life, Linux will follow the dollars and right now that is in the enterprise.
Have to say that his view on the evolution of the PC is interesting.
My thoughts for a cool system:
- Thin tablet client with ability to work with finger or stylus.
- Colour LCD, at least 1024×768 screen resolution.
- All flash based memory.
- Perhaps PDF support, but no word or other proprietary formats, we just want the web thanks.
- 1 or 2 USB ports to plug more accessories such as a flash drive.
- Maybe an SD card slot, perhaps this can be done by the USB port.
- Wireless only connection, Ethernet will not work for this thing.
- Docking station that charges just by being on top of it. nothing to plug in.
- Of course the battery has to be user replaceable.
Will be interesting if the PC world innovates and starts doing different things, probably not going to happen for a while though.
